The copyscape page will not accept pasted text - using 2.38 version. I cannot open a file or paste directly from notepad.

I take it you mean The Best Spinner - not Answer Analayst? (Because I don't have a copyscape page on my copy of AA and the version number is 1.43  ;) )
In The Best Spinner, to use copyscape, you need to add your copyscape information on the "Settings and Options" tab before adding text to the copyscape page.
