Missing "Resource" Pages on Some Member's Sites!
« on: July 14, 2010, 02:38:14 AM »
Jon,

It appears some Webmasters have deleted all of their "resource" pages in the MyWayLinks system,
resulting in my losing links and link quota.

It appears your policing script is not working. And it appears there are people out there who are
gaming the system. Whenever I say this I'm sure most members will agree; please delete these
people from the system and bar further participation. As far as I can see, they're wasting everyone's
time and energy. Oh, and did I mention, MONEY!

I have opened a support ticket with Amin.

As Andy asks, what's happening with this issue?

I have a list of 25 sites where the resource pages are missing yet the sites are still listed in the system and taking links after the 7 days. This is costing me quota points for nothing in return.

I just found another site today where I had 8 of my sites listed and approved for back links but the links page on the site had been removed.

I submitted the list to Amin months ago.

George

Jon,

I don't like it! In fact I don't like it one bit.
Why will you not resolve this issue? Would
you like it if I and other members demanded
a partial refund on our subscriptions? I very
much doubt it.

If you don't address this issue, Jon, people
are going to feel resentful about not just
others gaming the system, but also about
paying a subscription for a system which
you have told us is properly policed.

I'm listening. . . !

Andy

I will look into this when I get back in town. I am out of the country this month.

Jon,

Take a close look at some of the PR4 member sites.
Some of these are a prime example of members gaming
the system.  >:(

Those Webmasters know who they are and I
have individual URLs of those involved. In fact, I've
just lost 4 quota points on one of them.

Why should I buy quota -- which I do -- when
some members rob me of money and quota whilst
devaluing MyWayLinks, Jon?

I opened a ticket (4635C1) about this issue (links pages missing) on 3rd June, and still haven't heard back, despite sending a reminder.

At more than 2 months, I think I've been pretty patient.

Please make this issue a priority when you get back Jon.  As it stands, MyWayLinks isn't really usable, as you don't get all the links the system thinks you get.

Any news on this being fixed?

Is anyone else coming across a similar problem?

I haven't lookedinto this, but with regard to the policing script, for 1waylinks, I spoke to Amin, as I noticed that several blogs on there didn't have my links showing.

He said that the policing script runs every night, but it doesn't do the whole network at once.

When I last looked, out of 30 blogs which were missing my links, only about 11 had been found.  This was after a month or two.

So, I would say that either the script works slowly - which could be true of other programs, or there is an error with the script.

Well it's now been 3 months since I first raised this issue with the help desk, complete with a list of non-working sites and nothing has been done - the sites are still on the system.

I realize Jon is busy - but given that I pay a subscription for this service, I think 3 months to resolve a fundamental problem like this is taking the micky.

I'm tempted to just cancel my subscription since it feels like this service has been abandoned.

The only alternative I can see is for these of us wh have lists of non-working sites to share them, so we can police thpe service ourselves, and avoid wasting quota.

As per the terms of this forum, we can't post the non-working sites onto the forum - so I suggest using private messages to share them.

I have a list of 13 sites that don't work.  If you want to send me your list if non-working sites, I will add them all together and send the complete list back to you by private message.

Hopefully that will be a help, until a proper solution is found.

I know what you mean. I feel like "Victor Meldrew" the speaking cockroach (for those of
you in the UK). Ignored and forgotten.

Jon stated he'd fix this problem whenever he returned from his foreign trip end of August,
but have we heard from him since? Not a chance!

Looks like this network will soon be on its last legs, along with all of those juicy subscriptions
that help keep Jon rich!

As a fellow marketer, Jon, why spend time and effort looking for new buyers for your
portfolio of marketing products whenever there are regular buyers on your current list
that remain faithful and pay on a monthly basis for those services? Heck, these same
people also buy your new products, too!

I've begun already to seek new alternatives to MyWayLinks. Soon I'll be at the point
where I can cancel my MyWayLinks subscription due to new link-building efforts outside
of the system. I advise others to do the same before your current links tally whittles to
a mere trickle!

Aren't we important, anymore?

Andy

My guess is that he now owns shares of seoNuke and is probably working to add his own twist to it
and make it a beast to create Blinks with his different waylink systems.
At least that is what I would do.  ;D

I've been digging into this and it appears to be a reporting issue.  That is, links that are on domains which are no longer in the system are still being reported as being live.

It's not an issue with the policing code, which is working properly and removing sites that don't obey the rules.

I'm working on a fix for this.  It's just taking some time because it's fairly complex.

Thanks for the update - great to hear you're working on it.

Not sure you've got to the bottom of it yet though - the non-working links I have are on sites that are still in the system:  ie you can still apply for links on them.

I won't post them here as per the rules, but will send you a message, in case these will help you diagnose the problem.

But the rules only disallow us from typing those URLs in the forum. They
don't stop us naming the site by "title", isn't that right Jon?

What say ye we name and shame those that are guilty. Why don't
we take a vote on it. . . anyone???

All those in agreement please say so and let your feelings be known
on this vexatious matter!
