Okay guys, I've added a couple of things that have really improved the search results when doing a Standard search in Shablast:

1. Synonym matching.

Your keywords are now passed through The Best Spinner's massive database to get back synonyms matching the terms you've entered.  Those synonyms are qualified and then used when comparing the documents to each other. This helps improve document scoring for documents that say the same thing but might word it differently.

2. Document sample size now in place.

Before now, the entire document would be compared against all other entire documents to find which document gives the best cross-section of information.  Now only a fixed number of words in each document is compared against the entire collective knowledge of the documents.  That means that documents whose first X number of words contain the best cross-section of information rise higher to the top.

That way, even if you don't want to read 5,000 words on a subject, you can be sure that the first, say, 1,000 words contain most of what you're looking for.

3. Advanced search.

In an effort to keep the home page as simple as possible, the Summary, News and other Advanced functions have been moved off the home page to the Advanced Search page:

Let me know what you think.

That looks really good. I always liked shablast, ever since you first brought it out but I really like it now. Especially the definitions and related search terms - they really help. The results returned by Shablast have improved also, from my perspective anyway! The results I am getting actually cover what I am looking for, rather than being vaguely related, or something paid for and totally unrelated.
